At at a consultation event for parents last week, Beverley Hughes told CYP Now: "Parents are saying they want to get involved in their children's education and talk to teachers, but when they are both working their time is really squeezed."
She praised the idea of emailing teachers and said: "We need to rethink how we offer opportunities for parents to get involved. Services must be more informed by what parents say the important issues are."
The move is part of a Department for Children, Schools and Families' drive to get schools and children's services to boost involvement of parents.
