Parenting: YMCA expands its parenting projects

1 min read

The funds, given to YMCA England, will allow up to 18 YMCAs to replicate parenting projects that have been pioneered by YMCAs in Rotherham, Derbyshire and Bradford. The funds will also be used to develop training packs on running similar services.

Dirk Uitterdijk, parenting development adviser for YMCA England, said: "The money will allow us to put high-quality parenting projects in place within local communities."

The schemes are Rotherham's young fathers project, Derbyshire's project for the parents of children with special needs, and Bradford's project for parents and teenagers from Black and minority ethnic communities.

YMCAs will need to apply to YMCA England for a share of the funding, which is being spent over a two-year period.
