Pact to link private and state settings

1 min read Early Years
A deal designed to bridge the divide between state and private childcare is about to be signed in Blackburn in a bid to enhance local early years services.

The agreement between the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council will see the organisations working together to develop a more joined-up early years service. Deborah Gornik, head of service for early years excellence at the council, said: "Our long-term aim is to have a more seamless approach to providing services to children and their families."

She said the deal will see the NDNA help the local authority improve its existing communications and work with local private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sector providers. This will include making them aware of training courses, offering advice on the Graduate Leader Fund and supporting workforce development.
