This framework brings together the key resettlement pathways identifiedin the original plan for adults as well as the positive outcomes inEvery Child Matters. Most importantly, it brings the resettlement needsof children and young people to the centre stage at a national, regionaland local level. No longer can they be treated as a mere "add-on" to theadult strategies.
Reset would, however, sound a note of caution. Over the last six months,we've consulted extensively with young people subject to custodialsentences.
They report a lack of ownership of the resettlement process. Althoughthey attend meetings when resettlement plans are drawn up, many feelthey've not had the chance to make informed choices about theirfuture.
