PROPOSAL 1 - Better resettlement for young people leaving custody
We must improve services and plan more effectively for young peopleleaving custody.
Too many young people leaving custody are being set up to fail. Currentservices are poorly co-ordinated and are not meeting young people'sneeds, fuelling the startling rates of re-offending.
We need effective resettlement. That means putting young people at thecentre, engaging with them in developing plans that work towards theirfuture aspirations. We must ensure the full range of agencies workaround this plan in a co-ordinated way. The Youth Justice Board's YouthResettlement Framework for Action should be properly resourced and fullyimplemented.
