Opinion: If I Were in Charge of... World Poverty - Antonio Akue,11, Hackney

1 min read
Today I got a new pair of trainers and it got me thinking, what do children in Africa have? I have been thinking about this because of the Live 8 gig. I read about it in a magazine, about the people starving, and I'm not too young to say what I think is right.

I want to talk about poverty in some parts of Africa. I think it's wrongfor children to be suffering. Living in London is very different fromliving in Africa. In first-world countries young people have more chanceof getting a better education and earning more money and eating morefood, but we don't make the most of it. For example, I have seen peoplewasting food, buying silly things with their money like lots of CDs and10 pairs of shoes. Children in some parts of Africa don't have any ofthis.

Half of my family comes from Africa but it does not make any differencewhere you come from because African children are just like you andme.
