I'm teaching young people through Docklands Outreach not to be racistand helping them not to catch diseases such as STIs. They have torealise that if they don't change now it will be too late.
The thing is there's nothing to do here; kids just sit around fires inthe streets. Five or six years ago there was so much racism - one girlwas stabbed in the head and nearly went blind.
Then George Green School, the only secondary school here, sent thenaughty children to Northern Ireland. People talked about theirproblems. When we came back we had conflict-resolution workshops and wemet with other schools to say, if we can do it, why can't you? A lot ofthe people who volunteer used to get into fights in school but we havelearnt that fighting isn't the answer.
