Opinion: If I were in charge of College - Ellie, 17, London

1 min read
When I have support in the classroom that helps because I get mixed up and disorganised. Sometimes when they weren't there I would get things wrong. I couldn't always ask teachers and putting your hand up for help draws attention.

There should be groups for young people with autism and Asperger's tomeet others. In college there are 1,000 or so people, so you can't seethem and it would be good to meet them. I can't really get on withnormal people; they are in groups, they talk about things I can't joinin with.

Pria is one of my helpers and I see her once a week. We talk aboutwhat's happening over the week. I talk to her about work and problems. It's a huge college so she is a liaison between us. She can talk topeople I don't know.

I mentioned I was lonely and it was affecting my work and eating andsleeping and she talked to a counsellor who I spoke with, which helped abit.
