YES - JAY BELL, YOUTH INVOLVEMENT WORKER, COMMUNITIES UNITED PROJECT, HUDDERSFIELD
Our behaviour scheme is not something that's being "done"
to young people. Acceptable behaviour should be clear, and be adopted and owned by all young people, so if they display unacceptable behaviour they know the consequences.
Boundaries show young people that you care about them and ensure that they are in a safe environment. People have a right to behave how they want, but whether they like it or not, in society, there are rules.
If a young person's behaviour is unacceptable, then we have to question whether the youth club is right for them. That's not to say that they should not be worked with; it can be too easy to exclude the challenging.
