Opinion: Debate - Should children be allowed televisions in their bedrooms?

1 min read
Children who watch a lot of television and have a set in their bedroom do significantly worse at school and are less likely to go to university, according to a series of studies published in the Archives of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine.

There is a lot children can learn from television - it would be wrong to completely deny them. But it also depends on the age of the child.

I think from the age of 10 to 11 children can have a television set in their bedroom, but you have to keep an eye on what they are watching.

There's too much children can see too young. Surveys can also be misleading - children watching MTV till two in the morning may do less well in school, but children watching TV with a clear cut-off time can benefit.
