Young residents on Stockwell Gardens Estate were fed up of having nowhere to go.

The only place they could socialise was outside the bookies, according to Xpression Magazine. After the estate's youth forum spent a year campaigning for a new youth club without success, Xpression reporters decided to find out why. Just a week after interviewing their local housing councillor, a new youth club was given the go-ahead.

TV property show Location, Location, Location named Hackney the worst place to live in the UK last year. Unimpressed by this, young journalists from What's Up put the show's producer Lisa McCann in the hot seat. They asked why the programme filmed their hometown at night in the rain, but featured better-rated areas on sunny days. McCann attempted to deny the bias, but couldn't explain why she favoured night-time footage for the borough's profile.
