But children's charities said the ban did not go far enough. Jo Butcher,assistant director of children's development at the National Children'sBureau, said: "Advertisers will still have many loopholes."
The Incorporated Society of British Advertisers said banning adverts forfoods high in fat, salt and sugar will not solve the problem. Ian Twinn,the society's director of public affairs, said: "We should beencouraging children to exercise and eat healthily."
