NYA Update: Self-assessment frameworks for workforce development

1 min read
Workforce development using a self-assessment framework is the subject of two new books from the National Youth Agency.

Effective workforce development will help an organisation ensure that it has the right people with the right skills in the right place, to achieve its objectives and deliver its vision and values.

It is a critical part of the broader human resource strategy for all staff delivering and supporting an organisation's activities, facilities and services.

It also requires collaborative planning and action beyond the boundaries of an organisation - building capacity for the future based on its workforce profile, deployment, skill shortages, changing demands, modernisation, efficiency and excellence.

The books are aimed at organisations working with young people in the local authority, voluntary and community sectors. It provides a structure for them to make judgments about their current performance, set out the main sources of evidence upon which judgments are based, identify strengths and areas for improvement and formulate action plans to support continued improvements and efforts to raise quality.
