The pilot autumn NCS programme provides young people in year 12, who missed out on NCS in the summer, with the opportunity to take part in the government’s flagship programme, providing young people from all backgrounds with the chance to take on new challenges, learn new skills and make a difference in their local communities.
The five-day residential took teams of young people out of their comfort zone through a series of physical and mental challenges and guided reflection, with support from youth workers, volunteers and residential instructors.
Towards the end of the residential, young people were introduced to the social action phase of the NCS programme where young people with support from O2 Think Big are provided with money, training and support to take a small idea and turn it into a project that will benefit their local community.
