The National Youth Agency (NYA), one of the national delivery partners for the scheme, provided NCS places in Kent & Medway and Warrington this summer, and delivered a programme that built on some unique partnerships.
NYA came on board during the second pilot year of the national programme this summer and worked with a consortium of partners, including: O2 Think Big, De Montfort University and Rotherham Council, with delivery partners CXK Ltd (formerly Connexions Kent & Medway) in Kent & Medway, and Participation Through Sport in Warrington – both of which were existing O2 Think Big youth partners.
As part of NCS, O2 Think Big – O2’s social action programme – provided young people with money, training and support to take a small idea and turn it into a project that would benefit the local community. Fifty NCS teams were given £300 to fund their social action project ideas. During the residential aspect of the programme, young people from O2 Think Big led workshops on social action and project planning, inspiring the NCS participants to Think Big in their communities.
