Numbers game: Voluntary sector

The Leader Survey, developed and produced by The Prince's Trust in association with the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS), questioned local authority senior executives in charge of children and young people's services on their relationship with the voluntary youth sector.

The survey attracted 82 responses from the 303 people contacted in local authorities across the UK, with 95 per cent identifying the voluntary sector as a "key partner".

But more than two-thirds (71 per cent) described the limited capacity of the voluntary sector as a barrier to commissioning services and nearly half (43 per cent) did not have an effective local network in place.
