Two-thirds of the 14- to 18-year-olds consulted disliked being stereotyped by their clothing. Up to 79 per cent of young people in the South and East Anglia feel stereotyped by their image, compared with 56 per cent in the Midlands.
Teenagers living in the South also seem most inclined to denounce antisocial behaviour. More than half said young people who behave like yobs should be embarrassed by their behaviour, while in the Midlands 27 per cent held this view.
Nationally, three out of five teenagers feel angered that antisocial behaviour promotes a bad image of young people and four out of five believe it is important that young people get involved in their community.
