Dubit asked 538 young people how they thought the ruling elite regarded them and the perception was that they were viewed with barely concealed contempt.
Half of those surveyed believed politicians saw them as troublemakers.
One in three said elected representatives ignored them. A further 46.8 per cent told the pollsters that politicians regard their views as unimportant.
This was an opinion held more strongly by young women, 56.2 per cent of whom agreed with that statement.
Few thought politicians had positive views of young people. Just 5.8 per cent said young people were seen as important, and less than one in five said they were recognised as the voters of tomorrow.
