Cuts to the numbers of teaching assistants who work with special needs children are "inevitable", education officials in Northern Ireland have warned.

The news follows a meeting between senior officials and David McNarry, the education spokesman for the Ulster Unionist Party, about 25.7m of cutbacks to Northern Ireland's education budget.
