News round-up: Consultation - Views sought on youth work bodies

The government is asking professionals working with young people for their views on how they are supported by youth sector agencies.

The government is gathering evidence to assess whether the current support networks are up to the task of driving through the reforms of the 10-year youth strategy, Aiming High for Young People.

Its call for evidence covers all aspects of youth services, including local authority and voluntary projects, national, regional and local structures, and other aspects of work with young people such as youth justice, guidance, sport and health.

The consultation is open until 9 April and will feed into a wider national improvement and efficiency strategy. It could eventually lead to the creation of a single lead body for the youth sector. www.dcsf.gov.uk.
