Free fruit and vegetables given to children in school under a government scheme contain over 25 per cent more pesticides than produce on sale in shops, according to official tests carried out by the Soil Association. Ofsted is sending questionnaires to schools to find out what pupils think about services as part of the joint area reviews, which started at the beginning of September.
