News in brief: Figures published on looked-after children

Figures on how many looked-after children are mothers were published for the first time by the Department for Education and Skills last week. There were 320 mothers aged over 12 at 31 March 2005, and 97 per cent were aged 15 to 17. www.dfes.gov.uk.
