Issues of parenthood and sexist behaviour mean fewer women become school leaders, according to research by the National College for School Leadership. The organisation has launched a pilot programme, Taking Women's Leadership Forward, aimed at helping women in middle management to move into senior roles within schools. www.ncsl.org.uk.
