News in brief: Electronic tagging procedures to be tightened

Procedures on the electronic tagging of young offenders need to be tightened, the probation inspectorate concluded last week. The recommendation is part of a report into the case of Peter Williams, a juvenile offender involved in an armed robbery while tagged, which resulted in a murder. Youth justice minister Baroness Scotland pledged to strengthen procedures.
