Powers to electronically tag 17-year-olds on bail have been rolled out nationally to tackle re-offending teenagers. Following a pilot in 10 street crime areas in July 2002, offenders bailed with the condition that they keep to a curfew can be fitted with a tag that alerts the authorities if they break their bail conditions.
