The standards will bring local authority school improvement officers and educational advisors into line with professionals including head teachers and social workers that already benefit from tailored guidance on professional development and effective practice.
Aspect will be using the School Effectiveness Framework, which the Welsh Assembly Government launched last year, as a guideline for the new standards and is expected to publish a draft of the proposals in two months time. The assembly government will then consult on the suitability of the guidance.
A spokeswoman for the assembly government said: "The educational scene is constantly changing, so standards need to be updated to reflect new requirements for children and young people's plans and the launch of the School Effectiveness Framework."
