The conference will consist of a panel discussion with keynote speaker Neil Gerrard MP and interactive peer-led workshops on topics such as relationships, disclosure and the future. It is hoped that around 100 HIV-positive young people aged between 13 and 18 from all over the UK will attend.
The theme for this year's World Aids Day is "I Am", incorporated within the topic of Universal Access and Human Rights, and targeting the key messages "I am accepted, I am safe, I am getting treatment".
Maria Phelan, co-ordinator of the Children and Young People HIV Network, said: "We are excited to be hosting the first national conference for young people living with HIV in the UK.
