NCB Now: Young children's participation

NCB is leading the way in exploring frameworks through which young children can participate in policymaking.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families commissioned NCB to consult with 150 young children on the Early Years Outcomes Duty Statutory Guidance. When asked about strong relationships - a key indicator for what success should look like for children - transition and disruptive behaviour surfaced as two major concerns.

Lucy Williams, project officer at NCB's early childhood unit, said: "This is the first step in devising frameworks through which young children's voices can be used to inform policy."
