The Old Library at The Custard Factory in Birmingham became a hive of networking activity as local authorities taking part in the Department for Children, Schools and Families-funded pilot programme met for the first time. The event provided opportunities to forge links between authorities and to share good practice in listening to young children.
The day began with case studies presented by local authorities. Brent, Dudley, Kirklees and Middlesbrough all shared their experience of establishing successful networks, the impact on workforce development and ideas for the development of early years participation.
Highlights of the day included structured discussions on network challenges and opportunities chaired by members of the YCVN national steering group.
