The campaign was launched by singer and X-Factor contestant Chico at theHoly Trinity Church of England Primary School in Hackney, EastLondon.
Chico, who had a number one hit earlier this year, revealed that he hadbeen bullied as a child and said his ordeal only came to an end when heconfided in an older relative who was able to put a stop to it. He toldthe children: "The main thing is don't be a bully yourself, tell someoneif you are being bullied and keep telling until someone helps you tosort it out."
This year's Anti-Bullying Week, which takes place on 20-24 November2006, focuses on supporting children and young people to speak out andget help when they witness bullying. The campaign shows that when othersstand by and do nothing it can encourage bullying behaviour, and gettingthe bystander involved is a key factor in tackling and preventingbullying.
