NCB Now: Report on disabled people welcomed

The Council for Disabled Children, based at NCB, has welcomed Improving the Life Chances of Disabled People, a report launched by the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit on 19 January.

"The Government has not shied away from the difficult issues, and has responded to the challenge presented by the increasing complexity of the disabled community," commented council director Christine Lenehan who attended the report's launch at 10 Downing Street.

"We are pleased to see plans for an Office for Disability Issues, and we hope that the needs of disabled children and their families will be at its heart.

"The key, however, is in implementation at local level. Only by transforming services on the ground will we make a real difference," she added.
