NCB Now: NI government to give young people a voice

1 min read
The Department of Education in Northern Ireland has announced plans to strengthen the voice of children and young people.

After a regional consultation in late 2008 and early 2009, the department has decided that a youth network based on the Network of Networks model will be adopted to improve the level of participation for children and young people.

Many organisations are already working in partnership with children and young people to ensure that their voices are heard. The Network of Networks model suggests that current networks could be brought together and strengthened by an organisation that could act as a co-ordinator to its member groups.

Gill Crouch, participation officer for NCB NI, said: "We are delighted that this model has been chosen, as it allows for the maximum involvement of children and young people."
