NCB Now: News in brief - Web site boosted by audio content

1 min read
NCB's children's residential care unit has boosted the usability of its Young Person's Guide to the Residential Special Schools Standards web site by adding audio content to it.

The online guide is now narrated by a young person, making the fully accessible site even more user friendly.

It provides pupils with information on the standards in a child-friendly way and includes sections on what should happen in schools and what to do if it doesn't. It also has a list of contact organisations for young people.

This new feature complements audio cassettes of the guide, which have proved useful in allowing teachers to support both visually impaired pupils and those with other learning needs.

Printed and Braille versions of the guide are also available. The unit now hopes to complete the project by securing funding to produce the guide as a sign language video.
