NCB Now: NCB to relaunch its self-harm web site

This week the National Children's Bureau relaunches its Young People & Self-Harm web site to provide information and support for young people, their friends and families, and professionals working with them.

The number of unique visitors to the site each month has risen from2,654 in August 2004 to 10,500 in March 2006, which highlights thedemand for practical and useful information.

Developed by Atticmedia Ltd, the new user-friendly site is now in diaryformat, with a fresh look to appeal to young people. There are separatesections for young people who self-harm and for professionals. The sitecurrently features specific information for teachers, and guidance forboth health and prison workers will soon follow.

The site aims to be interactive, and welcomes feedback and ideas. Sitevisitors are also invited to send quotes and comments, especially youngself-harmers wishing to use their own experiences to help others insimilar situations.
