Grandparents offering childcare

In the UK one in three families depend on grandparents for childcare, with recent research finding that more than a third of the young people view their grandparent as the most important person in their life after parents or siblings.

Despite the high proportion of families depending on grandparents for childcare, little is known in Wales about the extent of grandparents' participation in supporting families. To find out more, Children in Wales is conducting a quantitative survey of grandparents in Wales, which aims to highlight how grandparents engage with their grandchildren.

Grandparents in Wales are being urged to complete the questionnaire at www.surveymonkey.com/s/grandparentssurvey or, hand in a hard copy to Children in Wales by the end of November.
