Children in Wales welcomes Children and Young People's Scrutiny Committee.

Children in Wales have welcomed the decision made by the National Assembly for Wales to establish a Scrutiny Committee for Children and Young People.

Children in Wales had lobbied for such a Committee because it believes that it is essential that the impact of all Assembly Government policies on children and young people are scrutinised if their lives are to be improved. This includes policies on topics such as transport and the environment as well as those more directly linked like social services, health and education.

The Committee's role is to consider and report on issues affecting children and young people in Wales. For example, the Committee may consider reports of the Children's Commissioner for Wales.
