Annual conference prioritises early years funding.

A keynote speaker at Children in Scotland's annual conference declared that investing in early years services should be a priority in the current economic downturn.

Councillor Douglas Chapman, convener of education and children's services in Fife, presented at the conference Making Connections: How Communities Can Collaborate for Children and Young People's Lifelong Wellbeing and Learning, held in partnership with Fife Council.

Chapman said: "The Treasury has a great opportunity to follow on from the funding they have made available to Sure Start and implement an early years strategy across the UK."
