Concern over Scotland's spending plans

Following the announcement of key measures in the Scottish government's spending plans and draft budget for 2011/12, Children in Scotland has expressed concern that education will take a major hit under the proposals. The announcements include an agreement with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Cosla) to deliver a further council tax freeze, maintain key education and social care commitments, a new early years/early intervention fund for the voluntary sector, and £86m to support the most vulnerable in our society.

Children in Scotland is also seeking clarification over whether pre-school services will be covered by the agreement reached by the Scottish government with Cosla's leadership on full revenue funding.
