NCB Now: News from Scotland

If I were First Minister.

Scotland celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament this month, and children were at the heart of the event as the Queen met the "1 July babies".

Ten years ago, Children in Scotland asked children to imagine they were First Minister, revealing what they would prioritise to improve their communities. L Stewart said: "I would be so happy knowing that when I take a breath of air it's not pollution I'm breathing in." Meanwhile, D Maciver said: "If I were First Minister I would make sure that all children were treated equally."

Their hopes have not been ignored: Children in Scotland has been an active advocate in the Scottish Climate Change Bill and is working with the government on implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
