EGAR tackles knives and gangs

Founded by Sue Scott-Horne in 2008, EGAR (Educational Games And Resources) is an award-winning London-based organisation that is dedicated to assisting teachers, youth workers, mentors and parents to communicate productively with young people.

Developed with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and the Every Child Matters programmes in mind, EGAR is founded on the educational principle: get young people talking about the issues that matter.

Scott-Horne has extensive experience of working with inner-city teenagers and young people, presenting to the British Library and the London Assembly, and receiving expert guidance from Peter Jones of BBC's Dragon's Den.

She comments: "I really hope that this idea can make a difference in schools and youth clubs. I want teens to put down their knives, pick up the discussion cards and start talking about how they feel."
