NCB Now: Kent schools take health challenge

1 min read
Six schools in Kent will soon be coming to the end of a four-week pilot of the innovative Health Challenge programme.

The Health Challenge, which has been running from mid-January, asked children, young people, teachers, school staff and parents to identify one challenge they would like to work towards to improve their health and wellbeing, from one of three challenge areas: healthy eating, feeling good inside and physical activity.

The programme, commissioned by the Food Standards Agency and run by NCB in partnership with the Kent Healthy Schools Programme, aims to support children, young people, their families and the wider community, to initiate and maintain healthier lifestyle changes.

Carol Healy, Healthy Schools Programme Manager at Kent County Council, said: "Through the challenge we hope to support children, young people and their families to make small but important lifestyle changes. We need to ensure that everyone is able to make healthier choices and access support regardless of where they live."
