NCB Now: Keeping an eye on children's policy

NCB's policy unit is responsible for co-ordinating, developing, communicating and disseminating NCB's position on policy issues that affect children and young people, and their families.

Age discrimination: In partnership with the Children's Rights Alliancefor England and others, NCB will contest the Government's decision toexempt under-18s from the age discrimination section of the forthcomingSingle Equality Bill.

Childhood bereavement: NCB's policy unit is working with the ChildhoodBereavement Network to launch a parliamentary campaign to raiseawareness of the effects bereavement can have on children, and the waysin which practitioners and service providers can support them.

Children's workforce: For the 2007/8 parliamentary year, the All PartyParliamentary Group for Children, clerked by NCB, is planning a seriesof meetings that will focus on each of the main service areas that makeup the children's workforce. These will include meetings on education,health, play and early years, immigration, youth justice, and thevoluntary and community sector.
