The publication, Will Someone Listen?, by Magda Conway and Simon Blake, draws on a series of four seminars funded by PPP Healthcare and organised by the Children and Young People HIV Network during 2003.
The report summarises the issues raised at the seminars, which were attended by around 200 professionals across the country. It concludes with a series of recommendations for policy makers and practitioners.
"Owing to the culture of secrecy which surrounds HIV, most young people are afraid to talk about their own or their family's HIV status for fear of discrimination or bullying," said Magda Conway, who co-ordinates the network. "The result is that they feel isolated and invisible."
