The review, which looked at 157 NHS and foundation hospital trusts inEngland, showed that while a number of improvements have been made toinpatient services, there is still a worrying number of hospital trustsdelivering a fragmented service to children and young people.
There are clear directions from the United Nations Convention on theRights of the Child, the development of the Health and Social Care Actand the national service framework for children, that set out standardsto improve involvement of patients in NHS organisations and the planningand design of the health services they receive.
Children and young people are one of the largest groups to use thehealth service, and this report should serve as a wake-up call for thosetrusts that are not practising children and young people-centredcare.
