NCB Now: Call for 'places to go' video evidence

1 min read
A key aim of the government's Children's Plan is to move away from the current "no ball games" culture and towards a vision of public space where children of all ages can play and young people can move about freely.

NCB and Play England want to know what it is like for children and young people hanging out and playing in their streets and neighbourhoods today, and are inviting young people to send in clips, filmed either on mobile phones or digital video cameras, that show what it is like for them walking, cycling or taking the bus around where they live.

A short film will be created with the footage and shown at a national conference organised by NCB, Play England, Sustrans and Living Streets. The conference, Places to Go?, will explore the opportunities represented by The Children's Plan and address some of the challenges, presenting policy and practice for professionals in planning, landscaping, play, school travel, public health, traffic and transport.
