It was chaired by Clive Leach, a former youth worker and head of youth services in Islington and Luton, who now works as an executive and organisational coach and is a masters graduate of the Coaching Psychology Unit at the University of Sydney. The seminar explored how recent research into positive psychology and evidence-based coaching can be applied within, and add value to, existing youth service strategies aimed at developing positive activities and life chances for young people.
Evidence-based coaching, as an applied positive psychology, has been shown to increase levels of resilience, wellbeing, hope and goal attainment in young people. The seminar also explored the potential for supporting youth work professionals through youth workforce development programmes and capacity building within the third sector.
