National Youth Agency: Next steps in voluntary registration scheme for youth work announced

1 min read
The National Youth Agency carried out consultation and feasibility work into the potential for developing a voluntary registration scheme for youth work professionals between last December and April.

This discovered considerable support among key stakeholder groups and individuals for a registration scheme, and a level of enthusiasm for involvement that makes it evident this is a much-needed and greatly desired development for the youth work field.

"This early exploration and consultation confirmed that the security of a process for developing the right components of such a scheme lies in the active involvement of a range of stakeholders throughout," said NYA workforce programme manager Diane Evans. "This is warmly welcomed by the agency."

Given the shifting landscape since the work began, the NYA is now looking to determine what the next phase of work to take this forward will be, and against what timeline.

"The agency continues to believe in the value and place of a voluntary registration scheme, and will be actively seeking opportunities to continue to support this development, based on the continued positive feedback and encouragement from the youth work field," Evans added.
