National Youth Agency: Empowerment - What's changed

1 min read
What's Changed is a tool for groups to record the outcomes of participation by young people.

Every other week we summarise an example of how young people have brought about change.

Organisation: The Herd Issue Mobile Youth Provision

The situation: The Herd is a group of young people, supported by Pioneer People, who want to make a positive difference to their wider community. Following a successful mobile skate park project, the Herd wished to continue the successful mobile aspect of their work. They applied for three funding bids including the youth opportunity fund and have secured and equipped a double decker bus.

What children and young people said.

"Although we have the support of adults from the charity, they are giving us freedom to make decisions but also giving us advice when asked." "We brought the bus to the skate park site the other day for three days ... about 150 to 200 young people came on to have a look ... generally young people are surprised that they don't have to pay to get on the bus."
