My Life: Zouhra, 18, Birmingham

1 min read
I came to the UK in August 2003. I stayed in a hotel in Birmingham for one night, and was taken to social services the next day.

I remember the day so clearly - I arrived at 10am and wasn't seen until5pm. That evening they took me to a children's home. I stayed here forone and a half years, but I didn't like it. I complained so many timesabout the way they treated me. The people just weren't nice.

I liked my social worker who I had when I was in the children's home, but since moving to my own place, I haven't seen her.

I got a place at college in January 2004.

Before that I did an English for speakers of other languages course.

I like college although I have lots of work at the moment.
