Winston's Wish is a charity for bereaved children. It provides support at the most devastating time and helps rebuild, not only children's lives after the loss of a loved one, but also family lives. A month after my mother died, I rang the charity's helpline just to check the way I was handling things was "right". The call was probably only 10 minutes, but that was all I needed. Just one phone call and I was on my way. I achieved my GCSEs and was ready to start my ALevels.
I first joined Winston's Wish as a young ambassador in order to thank it and battle my own restlessness. I was then offered a chance to work as community fundraiser. This has given me the opportunity to witness the fantastic work the charity carries out and to be a part of that achievement, while also reinforcing the importance of the support Winston's Wish provides.
